Acceptable Use Policy
This policy sets out what you may and may not do with HostFitter services. It forms part of our Terms of Service. It exists to keep our platform safe, fast and lawful for everyone.
1. General
You are responsible for everything on and done through your hosting account, including by anyone you allow to use it. You must use the Services lawfully and must not allow anyone else to misuse them.
2. You must not use the Services to
- host, publish or link to unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights
- host or distribute malware, ransomware, spyware or any harmful code
- run phishing sites, scams, or sites that imitate other organisations or people to deceive
- send spam or unsolicited bulk email, or run open mail relays or mail-bombing tools
- attack, probe, scan or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, or take part in denial-of-service activity
- run open proxies, anonymising services or botnet command servers
- carry out cryptocurrency mining or other activity that uses excessive resources [delete if not wanted]
- host content that is abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory or that promotes violence or exploitation
- host sexual content involving children. This will be reported to the authorities without notice.

3. Fair use of resources
Hosting resources are shared. You must not use more than your fair share in a way that harms the performance or stability of the platform or other customers. If your usage is causing problems, we will contact you to resolve it, and may ask you to reduce your usage, optimise your site or move to a more suitable plan.
4. Security of your site
You must take reasonable steps to keep your site and software secure, including keeping applications up to date and using strong passwords. If your site is compromised and is being used to harm others, we may need to act quickly to contain the problem.
5. Reporting abuse
To report abuse involving our services, email [abuse@hostfitter.com] with as much detail as possible, such as the web address, what the problem is and any evidence. We will look into every report we receive.
6. What we may do
If we believe this policy has been broken, we may investigate and, depending on the seriousness and risk, take action including: asking you to fix the problem, removing or disabling content, suspending or terminating the account, and reporting matters to the authorities. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put things right. In urgent cases, for example where there is a security risk or a legal requirement, we may act immediately. We are not liable for loss caused by action we take in good faith under this policy.
7. Changes
We may update this policy as the law and technology change. We will tell you about material changes.
